STAFF GUIDANCE β€’ FEATURE EDUCATION

Give staff useful guidance without adding guesswork

Localized Staff Advisories teach admins about underused CLNR capabilities on a balanced schedule. Separately enabled Premium action suggestions analyze aggregate signals to recommend logical staff next steps without ever executing moderation actions automatically.

Config Advise: Restart quiet conversations with Icebreakers

Why it matters

  • Purpose: Give a quiet channel an easy way back into conversation. CLNR posts one open question; members reply normally, without voting or buttons.
  • Access and setup: Server administrators and the configured admin-command role can manage Icebreakers. Complete server setup and choose one regular text channel where CLNR has View Channel, Send Messages, and Read Message History. Threads and announcement channels are not supported.
  • Defaults: Automatic posting is off. Guided setup starts with 24 quiet hours and requires you to choose a question level. Choose 1-720 whole hours; enabling or changing the channel, inactivity duration or question level starts a full quiet period rather than posting immediately.
  • Question style: Light is playful and easy; Casual covers everyday preferences; Thoughtful invites reflection; Challenging explores ideas and tradeoffs. Mixed draws evenly from all four. The levels describe conversation style, not intelligence or age.
  • Question variety: There are 20 English questions per level, 80 in total. Available translations follow the server language, with English fallback. CLNR avoids recent questions when alternatives are available.
  • Timing: CLNR checks the latest message hourly and only posts after the quiet duration has passed. A question can arrive up to roughly one hour after that threshold. An active conversation postpones the question. If CLNR, another bot, a webhook, or a system message is last, it waits for a member message.
  • Noise control: Posts stay at least 24 hours apart. An unanswered question is not followed by another automatic question; deleting it does not restart posting. Ghost Mode, incomplete setup, missing permissions, or plan restrictions can pause delivery.
  • Admin control: Privately preview questions or review the current status before enabling. Manual posting requires enabled Icebreakers. A confirmed manual post can bypass the quiet timer and last-author check, but keeps quiet hours, the 24-hour minimum and setup checks. Automatic posting then waits for another member message.
  • Optional controls: Skip quiet hours and role ping during setup or configure them later. Quiet hours use a chosen timezone and pause automatic and manual posts. A role ping notifies only one selected role; unavailable roles are skipped. Reset clears an option without forgetting posting history.
  • Informational only: Sending this advisory does not enable Icebreakers, change settings, or post a question.

Comprehensive Curriculum

Curated Staff Advisory Tracks

Staff Advisories break down powerful CLNR capabilities into practical, bite-sized lessons so your team never misses useful features.

πŸ“Š

Engagement & Health

Teaches staff how to track server vitality using the Activity Health Score and evaluate structural retention through the Discord Decay Score.

🎁

Rewards & Kudos

Covers positive reinforcement setups, including Streaks & Rewards and private member appreciation via Silent Kudos.

πŸ“‹

Reviews & Coverage

Explains aggregate activity, tracking coverage, and channel-health context through Staff Reviews and Live Manual Review.

πŸ›‘οΈ

Permissions & Safeguards

Explains multi-admin approval safeguards for high-impact decisions using Staff Removal Approval and Auto-kick Guardrails.

πŸ“£

Member Explainers & Notices

Demonstrates how to post transparent policy notices with Explain Inactivity Rules, send DM-only Inactivity Notices, or reference the Inactivity Policy Template.

πŸŽ‰

Community Activities

Introduces fictional investigations with Community Casefiles and lightweight engagement modules like Icebreakers, Polls and Quizzes, and the cooperative Border Challenge.

Balanced & Respectful Timing

Automatic Cadence & Configured Feature Skipping

Automated advisory delivery uses expanding cadence windows. Admins can snooze guidance, pause delivery, and choose staff-channel or opted-in DM delivery.

πŸ“…

Expanding Cadence Windows

During a new installation’s 30-day Scale trial, relevant guidance can appear from days 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, and 28, with at least 72 hours between attempts and no catch-up series. Afterward, and for existing servers, the first topic pass allows at most one advisory per seven days, the next pass uses 30 days, then 60 days permanently.

⏭️

Automatic Configured Skipping

If your server has already configured a feature, CLNR automatically skips that track during routine cadence runs so you only receive advice on underused modules.

⚑

Non-Intrusive Learning

Sending or reading an advisory strictly explains a feature. It never turns on settings, changes configurations, or performs actions on your server automatically.

Training Mode & On-Demand Access

Full admin control over when and how guidance is delivered.

Staff Training Guidance

When onboarding new staff members, toggle Training Mode ON with /advises toggle training_mode. Training keeps useful explanations available without resetting topic progress or forcing unsuitable setup advice. Use manual sending for a specific topic.

On-Demand Track Requests /advises send

Do not want to wait for scheduled cadence? Admins can inspect track history with /advises show or send a specific topic to the configured advisory channel with /advises send.

Snooze & Channel Preferences /advises snooze

Snooze proactive delivery for 1-180 days; the default is 30 days. Use /advises toggle delivery to enable or pause the advisory stream, and use /advises opt_in or /advises opt_out for personal DM copies. /advises toggle staff_channel separately mutes staff-channel posts while at least one DM opt-in remains.

Premium Intelligence

Data-Backed Premium Action Suggestions

Premium staff action suggestions are separately controlled cards that evaluate aggregate server activity to recommend practical staff steps when they matter most.

πŸ“‘

Aggregate Signal Detection

Analyzes server trends to suggest timely staff checks, such as initiating a Community Check-In, starting a one-time Community Restart check-in, reviewing member tracking coverage with /review coverage, or reviewing quiet-channel context with /review channels.

πŸ”’

Strict Staff Channel Scope

Action suggestion cards are strictly routed to your configured staff notification channel. They have no admin-DM fallback. Generic advisory DM opt-ins do not redirect these Premium suggestion cards.

πŸ›‘οΈ

No Automatic Execution

Action cards only recommend steps. They never perform moderation, execute commands, or modify server roles on their own. Control remains 100% in human staff hands.

⭐ Tier & Preference Behavior: Free servers do not receive data-backed action cards. When Premium is inactive, your saved preference remains stored, but proactive delivery pauses until Premium returns and future eligible signals occur. Review Pricing plans for server tier details.

Clear Operational Boundaries

Teaching vs. Recommending vs. Executing

CLNR maintains strict architectural separation between feature education, data-backed recommendations, and real administrative execution.

01. Teaching

Staff Advisories

Generic, track-based feature education. Explains how features work, when to use them, and which commands to run. Available across all servers.

02. Recommending

Action Suggestions

Context-aware next steps triggered by aggregate server signals. Can suggest a Community Restart check-in, recurring Check-Ins, settings review, /review coverage, or /review channels.

03. Executing

Human Staff Action

Actual command execution or moderation action. Performed only when a human admin explicitly enters a command or approves a queue item. Neither advisory nor suggestion cards ever execute moderation on their own.
