What Channel Announcements Get Suppressed?
When /config inactivity_notifications is turned Off, CLNR stops new channel posts for four distinct activity lifecycle events in Standard and Ghost modes. The setting defaults On.
Inactivity Warnings
New warning-threshold notices do not post in server channels. Existing Discord messages are not deleted.
Inactive Role Assignment
Announcements confirming that an inactive role was assigned to a member are kept off public chat feeds.
Warning Recovery Alerts
Posts celebrating a member re-engaging and clearing their warning state are silent in public channels.
Inactive Role Removal
Confirmation posts when a returned member active state strips away their inactive role are silenced publicly.
Both threshold DM settings must remain enabled
Turning off channel notices requires both warning and inactive-role DM settings to remain enabled. This does not guarantee delivery: member mute preferences and Discord DM restrictions still apply.
Prerequisite 1: /toggle dm_warning Enabled

Standard Mode Flexibility
In Standard Mode, Direct Messages do not require a usable warning channel while DM-only mode is active.
Enabling threshold DM settings shows the admin a private sample with the current configured threshold context.
Review the private sample when enabling threshold DMs.
Use the current configured threshold context rather than assuming fixed score or time values.
Respecting member choice without public fallback spam
Members retain complete control over their inbox. Members can mute inactivity reminders for this server using CLNR's /mute command or block Direct Messages through their Discord privacy settings.
Member Self-Mute (/mute & /unmute)
Members can use /mute to mute inactivity-reminder DMs for this server.
No Public Fallback for These Notices
If a member blocks DMs or mutes CLNR, the bot respects that boundary and will never post a fallback message in public channels.
Privacy-First Architecture
No message reading, no cross-server profiling, and EU-based core data storage.
Member receives threshold warning or inactive role update privately in their Discord Direct Messages.
Notice is skipped. Decay processing continues silently according to server rules. No channel fallback is posted.

A Communication Choice, Not a Bot Pause
DM-only mode changes inactivity notice delivery. Tracking, Decay Score changes, role processing, staff reviews, reports, kick announcements, and rewards keep their existing controls.
CLNR continues measuring activity signals across text channels, voice sessions, and forum reactions according to configured decay rates.
Inactive roles continue to be assigned or removed on schedule based on member activity thresholds, independently of channel messaging.
Staff reviews and scheduled reports keep their own controls and access requirements.
Inactive account prune and kick announcements retain their own separate channel and permission controls.
Activity milestone and retention reward announcements maintain their distinct configuration toggles.
This communication setting does not change the separate review-history or staff workflow controls.
