PRIVACY-FIRST DISCORD INACTIVITY WORKFLOW

How CLNR Works.

A simple, fair, and transparent system that keeps your Discord server active, manages inactive roles, and guides staff reviews without reading member messages.

/start (wizard) /config show /my_score

The Core Engine: The Decay Score

Instead of rigid activity clocks or invasive message monitoring, CLNR uses a privacy-safe Decay Score for each member to track participation over time.

When Members Participate

Qualifying activity (messages, reactions, voice/stage activity, poll votes) lowers or resets a member's Decay Score based on server configuration.

When Activity Fades

If a member stays quiet, their Decay Score grows gradually on configured checks, subject to grace periods, exemptions, and amnesty windows.

Compare Decay Score against basic rigid clocks, XP bots, and Discord Prune in our dedicated Discord Decay Score guide.

The Inactivity Journey

What happens as activity fades? Administrators set exact parameters every step of the way.

1. Qualifying Activity Signals

CLNR detects participation events without reading message content or storing chat logs. Roster tracking starts automatically or can be seeded using bulk upload or history scanning.

Messages Sent Reactions Voice & Stage Poll Votes

Privacy Principles

CLNR stores member IDs, display names, server settings, and activity metadata required for enabled features. It never requires privileged message content intents. Details: Privacy Policy.

Modes & Communication Options

In Standard Mode, warnings can post to a channel. To prevent public noise, servers can enable DM-only inactivity notices to suppress channel posts while preserving separately enabled threshold DMs, subject to member preferences and Discord delivery. Ghost Mode is a staff-focused starting point; the setup summary below shows the example safe-start settings. Later configuration determines which actions remain enabled.

2. Configured Warnings & Nudges

When warning delivery is enabled, CLNR can notify members at the configured threshold and explain how to re-engage. Personal opt-in reminders are a separate, voluntary option.

3. Inactive Roles & Self-Recovery

If inactivity continues, CLNR applies configured role swaps (e.g. Inactive/Default Swap). Qualifying activity can lower or reset their score; role recovery follows the server's configured role mode and permissions.

Transparent Guidelines

Publish explicit server expectations using our inactivity policy template and guide on explaining inactivity rules so members know how recovery works.

Built-In Guardrails

When auto-kick is enabled, built-in caps limit removals to 5 per run, 10 per UTC hour, and 25 per UTC day; a configured lower limit can reduce these further. CLNR rechecks current eligibility and permissions. Optional pre-kick DMs follow server settings and member preferences and can include the configured reinvite link; Discord delivery is not guaranteed.

4. Staff Review & Guarded Removal

With Auto Kick off, eligible members can be handled through live manual review. Owners and admins keep the direct kick path with the required permissions. Optional two-person inactivity confirmation delegates eligible targets to two authorized moderators. Staff Removal Approval is a separate optional workflow for general kicks and bans. Automatic kicks remain optional.

CLNR is now tracking activity for this server.

Safety Summary

Auto Kick is off. CLNR will not remove members automatically.

Ghost mode is on: tracking and staff updates are active, while member-facing warnings, CTAs, DMs, polls, public announcements, and automatic kicks stay off.

Role mode: Inactive/Default Swap.

Tracking Coverage

CLNR starts from now. Existing members are not scored retroactively from their join date. Coverage grows as members become active, or you can seed known members manually.

Recommended next step

Use /config show to review your current settings.

Useful checks

/config check_permissions - confirm CLNR can access the channels and roles it needs.

/coverage - see how many members CLNR is already tracking.

Optional coverage helpers

Free servers can use these for coverage, but automations pause if tracked members exceed the Free limit.

/scan_history - scan recent message history to seed members.

/bulk_user_upload - seed a known roster from IDs or CSV.

Encouraging Activity & Community Health

CLNR pairs transparent roster maintenance with optional positive engagement tools.

Activity Streaks & Rewards

Recognize consistent participation using configured tracking intervals. Award special streak roles and celebrate active contributors with highscores and champions announcements.

Polls & Quizzes

Run scheduled interactive polls and quizzes; poll reactions count through reaction-based activity tracking. Anonymous Community Check-Ins offer a separate aggregate view: participation can count when Commands and Components tracking is enabled, but the selected answer never changes scoring.

Fair Roster Cleaning

Combine Activity Health Score monitoring with Premium Staff Reviews and manual inactivity reviews to assess coverage and recovery before deciding what to change.

Essential Commands

CLNR is designed for quick setup and effortless management. Access key controls anytime using slash commands:

/start

Launches the guided interactive setup wizard.

/config show

Displays safety summary, mode, and tracking limits.

/my_score
