How Silent Kudos Works

Simple, Direct, and Private Appreciation

A single command lets members send thoughtful recognition directly to a peer's inbox with clear rules and safety checks.

πŸ‘€

Target Member Selection

Select any valid human member in the current server using the mandatory member parameter.

Automatic Safety Rules:

β€’ Self-thanks attempts are automatically rejected

β€’ Bot accounts cannot be targeted

πŸ“

Personal Note (1-240 Chars)

Include an optional personal message using the message parameter to explain why you are thanking them.

Note Features:

β€’ Concise length limit keeps feedback constructive

β€’ Private delivery directly inside the recipient DM

πŸ•ΆοΈ

Anonymous Option

Set anonymous: true to withhold your Discord handle and display name from the recipient's thank-you DM.

Privacy Boundary:

β€’ Hides sender name from recipient only

β€’ Limited sender and recipient details are kept to prevent misuse

Balanced Anti-Abuse System

Default Limits & Responsible Data Boundaries

Pair cooldowns and daily sender limits discourage repetitive sends. Short-lived event metadata supports these anti-abuse checks.

⏳

12-Hour Pair Cooldown

Prevents sending multiple kudos to the same member within a 12-hour window.

Default: 12 Hours
πŸ“…

Per-Sender Daily Cap

Limits total thank-you sends across the server to 6 per sender per day.

Default: 6 / Day
πŸ”

48-Hour Short-Lived Retention

The default retention for short-lived event metadata is 48 hours.

Default: 48 Hours

Privacy & Mode Boundaries

Clear operational facts without exaggerating claims

Privacy First

Silent Kudos keeps appreciation private while using short-lived event metadata for cooldowns and daily sender limits.

πŸ‘» Ghost Mode Restriction

Silent Kudos is completely unavailable when Ghost Mode is active in the server.

πŸ” Realistic Anonymity

Anonymity hides identity from the recipient, but not from anti-abuse tracking systems.

🚫 Zero Public Posts

The recipient receives the appreciation privately, and the sender receives a private confirmation and preview. Silent Kudos creates no public gratitude feed.

⏱️ Cap Handling

Reaching the 6 daily sends limit pauses further sends; it does not trigger automated retries.

The anonymous option hides the sender’s name from the recipient; it does not remove processing or anti-abuse records. Event metadata uses short-lived retention, with 48 hours as the default.
βœ‰οΈ Delivery Error Handling

Graceful Blocked DM Detection

Private Error Reports

What Happens If Direct Messages Are Blocked?

If the targeted member has direct messages disabled from server members or has blocked DM interactions, Discord rejects the message.

  • CLNR intercepts the delivery error immediately.
  • Reports the delivery failure privately to the sender in a message visible only to them.
  • Reports a delivery error privately instead of claiming success when Discord rejects the DM.

Sender Experience & Daily Limits

When a DM delivery fails due to blocked messages:

  • No public message or channel alert is generated.
  • The sender is informed so they understand why the note was not delivered.
  • A blocked-DM failure does not start the pair cooldown or consume a successful-send slot in the daily limit.
Pure Appreciation

No Leaderboards, No Points, No Gamification

Silent Kudos is intentionally built without public scores, badges, or ranking tables to keep appreciation genuine and stress-free.

🚫

Zero Public Leaderboards

There are no public ranking tables or kudos counts in channels. Community members never compete for top positions or artificial appreciation scores.

🎁

No Reward Automation

Silent Kudos does not grant XP, Discord roles, currency, or automated perks. It remains a pure tool for human interpersonal gratitude.

πŸ’‘

Discovery Nudge via /my_score

When members check their standing with /my_score, an embedded discovery nudge subtly highlights /thanks as a way to recognize helpful peers.
